Baptism and Reception into the Catholic Church
Baptisms are celebrated by appointment. Parishioners requesting Baptism for their child should be registered and active members the Catholic Community of Burke and Chateaugay (St. George or St. Patrick). Those who live outside CCBC parish need to have the permission of their home parish priest for a baptism celebrated here. Parents and sponsors need to participate in a baptism preparation class before the Baptism. Please call the Parish Office to make arrangements. Adults already validly baptized in another Christian church or community may be received into the Catholic Church after appropriate instruction. Unbaptized adults should enroll in the RCIA. First Communion____________
All Catholics who wish to receive First Communion should first receive instruction. Children should be enrolled in the CCD program at St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay. Please call the rectory at 518-497-6673.
Sponsors For Baptism and Confirmation______________
A sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation needs to be a baptized Catholic, sixteen years or older, Confirmed him/her self, and, if married, married in the Catholic Church. A sponsor needs to be a practicing Catholic, which means a registered member of a parish, and who regularly attends Sunday Mass. A Sponsor Certificate is needed for those sponsoring in a parish other than their own..
Marriage__________________
Couples planning Marriage, should contact their priest or deacon at least eight months before the wedding. Marriage instructions are available: Pre Cana, Engaged Encounter or sessions with a couple assigned to them by the parish priest. Call 518-497-6673 to set up an appointment.
Anointing of the Sick________________
Anointing of the Sick is for anyone who is ill. Call the rectory at 518-497-6673 in you would like to receive this sacrament.
Reconciliation_____________________
Saturdays: 3:15 pm - 3:45 pm, or any time upon request.
Communion Calls_________________
Those who are shut-in and are unable to attend Mass should notify the rectory so arrangements can be made to bring them Communion on a Monthly basis. |
